sidebar..A kid, who's grandfather tossed rivets on the high rises going up in Chicago at the turn of the century, fast forward, a kid standing on West Indies dock watching the Angelina Lauro burn in 79'...she ended up being towed to China for scrap and sank on the way there... fast forward..Traveled to Bethelem (pa) in the 90's on a motorcycle with all the mills closed depressing....fast forward, I've been scrapping metal, and learned that C h i n a buys it and sells it back to us....I suppose there is a biblical aspect with the guiding star in constellation bit....its probably the most patriotic in song I've ever been/felt..with 9/11 and all of its +& - political & general confusion/conspiracy theorist lore... also, thinking about our manufacturing base and how good it was. I do love our country and ALL in it...we'll come back renewed and redefined and hopefully reunited on the important levels again. thank you REM..for everything especially your duration and ethos.
